Each of you took the steps and trusted the path and you proved it this Saturday. Regardless of your finishing time, each of you dug down deep and drew on an inner strength that we knew was in you. My hope for you is that this event, and every QHR to come, will be a source of empowerment for you as you face life's daily challenges and you will remember how you stayed the course and finished well. I am honored to have been a part of your journey.
I am aware not all of you share our faith perspective and I truly respect your positions. I do hope you can hear my heart and receive the love and prayers petitioned on your behalf. We prayed throughout the training season for all of you that this experience would be meant for your benefit. A particular scripture verse has hung in my head since the moment I woke up Saturday morning:
Romans 8:37 "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
You ladies more than conquered whatever obstacle(s) stood in your way prior to crossing the finish line. You ARE the Queen of the High Road! May I be so bold as to say I am sure God Himself was cheering for you as you proved you can more than conquer.
I am indebted to each of you for making our dream a reality, and a wonderful reality at that. It took all of us to create the experience, each woman playing her part. I hope to continue seeing as many of you as possible throughout the summer and next year when we start the official training again.
In absolute awe, sheer joy, and humble gratitude,
Lisa, Ann and Jules

All the extra "touches" were so wonderful, fun and creative! The route was great, aid stations perfectly placed with wonderful volunteers full of enthusiasm and encouragement and the people of Wilsonville were just great with their support!
I have run (3) full marathons back in the early 90's, and then done a variety of races through the years. But, I herniated my L5 disc 8+ years ago and haven't felt my 3 toes ever since that. Needless to say, BIG mileage isn't my norm anymore.
THIS, was a very special race for me because my daughter turned 13 in February, and she decided that she wanted to run this 13.1 mile race in her 13th year. She didn't come out to train with me on a lot of the Saturday mornings because she needed her sleep and was busy with indoor soccer, then school track (by the way, she's a sprinter..not a distance runner). Anyway, I told her she could set the pace and neither one of us were really sure how she'd do...because she basically "winged it." By mile 9, her arches were "killing her," and she was in tears (whoops, wrong shoes...how would we know, they'd never been tested like that before) I told her to pray for God to carry her and said Philippians 4:13 to her...I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. We fininshed in 2 1/2 hours, and ran almost the whole way...Yes, Footprints in the sand poem comes to mind! HE did strengthen and HE did carry! THIS experience taught her so much about Gods Faithfulness to us, and faith in herself. It taught her to follow through with a goal (even if you're not ready) and to FINISH STRONG! YOUR event will forever remain a pivotal event in a teenagers life (and her moms/me). Our teenagers face a lot of "forks in the road" as they discover and decide which direction they want to go. I believe this experience helped her to believe she IS the Queen of the High Road because her Father is the King of Kings. As Beth Moore has reminded us "we have a rich inheritance!" Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Sisters in Christ, Sole Sisters, Queens of the Queens! With a grateful heart, In Him, Julie Johnson and Jade Weiss (13 year old daughter)

Past Race Information:
Some race details: THIS IS NOT a TECHNICAL RACE. We will have a clock and a starting line and whistle, but there will not be race numbers or technical finishing times----it’s more for fun and for charting your own personal times. you CAN count it as a real half marathon of course :)
Queen of the High Road begins and ends at Memorial park. It will begin at 8 am and will have staggered start times (for runners and walkers) so that we can all basically finish the race around the same time (within an hour of each other, give or take). with breakfast refuel happening between 10:30-12:30. Most likely the walkers will begin at 7:30, walk/runners at 8 and runners at 8:30, but final details to be determined. :Part of the fun is cheering on fellow sole sisters as we cross the finish line!!! a joy unlike no other...
Then the celebration begins! All race finishers will receive their “medal” and enjoy a post-race re-fueling. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate with you and purchase their own breakfast as well. We should be out of the park by 1 pm.
The route is AWESOME! it takes place in the confines of Wilsonville, encompassing a little bit country and a little bit rock ‘n roll. We will wind our way through some beautiful scenery, a few hills for good measure and a lot of flat ground too---always fun, never boring! There will be at least 3 potty stops and water/refuel stations along the route. There will be some run/walking on sidewalks, tracks, paths and roads---the final route is already mapped out but we would love to keep it as a surprise for you on race day!! Nothing like expectation to keep your feet movin!!!
